Somatic

Somatic Dances are original movement sequences created by Stefan and his team. They cultivate the ability to listen inwardly to subtle sensations, impulses, and emotions while moving with a steady rhythmic pulse.

The work is informed by the pioneering contributions of Deb Dana, Peter Levine, Pat Ogden, and Stephen Porges.

Imagine interoception practices enhanced by two naturally motivating elements: rhythm and expressive style.

These rhythmic movement sequences help foster an embodied sense of safety and grounded presence. They help in regulating the nervous system, emotional balance, digestive function, and overall physiological coherence.

Practices for somatic awareness can sometimes feel effortful or tedious. Hard to sustain. But in dance form, the experience often becomes more engaging, pleasurable, and alive. Mood Moves encourage a wealth of sensation, vitality, and emotional expression. The pulsing music makes regular practice enjoyable and sustainable.

Somatic Dance is a central element of Mood Moves sessions.
